Nail Design: Pink Glitter

Here is the manicure I will be rocking this week. I've been so lazy this weekend. So I didn't do anything major, like adding rhinestones, decals, or etc. I still wanted to have some type of bling going on though. So I decide to use a polish I bought a few weeks ago. I'm so glad I did, because it really did the trick. I didn't have to do much this week and my manicure still looks hot!

Here's what I used:

-Sinful Colors: "UFO" (Pink Glitter)
-Sally Hansen Clear Top/Base Coat

Doggy Birthday Plans :)

Wow, my baby boy (puppy) will be 2 years old next Monday on March 2. Unfortunately, I have decided to celebrate it the day before because I have to go to work on his birthday. :( Well, I plan to order some birthday treats from the Diva Dog Bakery.

The first treat I'm getting him is: Cute Cupcakes
(Ingredients: whole wheat flour, honey, cage free eggs, baking powder, yogurt, turmenc powder, black sesame seeds, cinnamon, unsalted roasted peanuts)

...and the second treat is a 1/2 pound of Leftovers
(Ingredients: all natural peanut butter, whole wheat flour, fat free milk, honey, canola oil, carob, yogurt, turmeric powder, beet powder, baking powder, cinnamon, unsalted roasted peanuts)

Also, I plan to buy him a few more new toys. Then I'll buy some cheap balloons, blow them up, put a few cheerios in them (cheerios are his favorite treats), spread them out all over the living room, and let him go wild and pop every single one of them. Now that's how you celebrate a dogs birthday...

Hair Repair Update!

Well, it's been 3 weeks since I decided to reverse that downward spiral my hair was on. I had gone back to my old regimen and added more moisture to my routine. I went back to pre-pooing my hair overnight with the Hollywood Beauty Cholesterol...I am so glad I went back. I have not had to use the comb to detangle my hair in weeks. The minute the water hits my hair, to wash out the cholesterol, my hair detangle's instantly. It's been heaven! lol...

My pre-poo hair ~ and ~ my air dried hair:

Also my hair has shown progress again...yay!...It is starting to look thick again. The breakage has reduced completely. And it feels so much better now. I'm so glad I stopped that setback in it's tracks before it lasted too long. Then again 2 months is a long time to wait before correcting a problem. Anyways, I'm glad I'm back on track. If I keep it up, I should be brastrap length by the summer time. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Nail Tip: Here's a tip to dry nail polish faster!

Do you love your nail polish but wish it wouldn't take so long to dry? Here is a quick tip to speed up the drying process. Cold nail polish dries faster. Try putting your favorite shades in the refrigerator an hour before you want to apply your nail polish. Your nail polish is now ready to apply and you don't have to wait as long for it to dry. Enjoy!

Nail Design: Lakers

Here are my nails for this week. I call them the Laker nails. They are colors of my favorite NBA team. The tips look pink in the photo...lol...but it's really purple. The purple actually dried into deeper, richer purple. I also received my rhinestones this week so I was able to add them to the design.
Here's what was used:
Sinful Colors: Dream On (Bright Purple)
Sally Hansen Clear Base Coat
Rhinestones (Yellow/Gold and Purple)

My First Nail Tutorial!!!

Yeah! I finally did it. Gosh, making video tutorials are not as easy as they seem...lol. Anyways, this is my first nail tutorial. It's not perfect, but I hope you ladies like it.

My mom is Jamaican so I decided to do some Jamaican French Tips just for her. She loved them. So now she wants me to do it for her, so she can rock a cute manicure this week...lol

Hair Gift

We all know that this hair journey is not easy at all. It takes a lot of patience and care to reach our hair goals. Of course when you do reach that coveted hair goal that's a big reward in itself. But I've decided that once I reach full bra-strap (BSL), I plan to buy my hair a beautiful gift. Yes a gift. It's for all of my hard work. I think I deserve it.

I want to buy a hair clamp adorned with SWAROVSKI crystals. I saw it on LongHairGirl.com and I've been obsessed with it. So I decided that once my hair behaves and it gets to my next hair goal, then I'd buy it a gift. And I say it's a gift because I'm pretty cheap and I would never by a clip for more than $3-$6. And this particular clip can cost anywhere from $19-$30.

I Am So Sick! :(

Unfortunately, I have been feeling under the weather lately. It looks like I may have caught Strep Throat from my mother. But then again my co-workers have been feeling the same way, too. So it's possible that I may have caught it from them, instead. Either way I am still sick and not feeling good at all. I also have the common cold on top of that. So I am very stuffy and I have been sneezing and coughing all day. I obviously had to stay home from work today. I'm still debating on whether I should go to work tomorrow. lol... The best thing about this, is that I was able to stay put and get some much needed rest. Anyways, ladies I plan to have my first nail tutorial up this weekend so look out for that. And again thanks for stopping by my blog.

Chick Flix: 27 Dresses

Hey Ladies! Here's another chick flick I can never get tired of. It's a romantic comedy that star's the very talented Katherine Heigl and the very cute and fine James Marsden. What female doesn't dream of her own wedding day. I've been planning mine since I was 4 years old...lol. So I love weddings and I love watching movies about them. So if you haven't seen this great movie or you just want to see it again, go ahead and take the time out to watch it. VIEW 27 DRESSES

SUMMARY:
Jane is career-oriented and secretly in love with her employer, George. She spends much of her time as a bridesmaid, and has 27 dresses as evidence. Then her structured and ordered life comes unhinged when her younger sister, Tess, re-enters her life, and a reporter, Kevin, is attracted to her. Kevin decides to publish Jane's secret and her overwhelming wardrobe. Things get even more complicated when Jane finds out she may end up losing George to none other than her very own sister.

Combating the Dryness!

Well like I said in my previous postings, I'm going way back. Back to my first regimen. In my first regimen I used nothing but my trusty Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme and Carrot Creme for moisture. So I'm going to start using that on a routine basis again, as my daily moisturizer.

I stopped by Walgreen's today because they were having a clearance sale. So I stocked up on Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme and Carrot Creme. I also picked up some more supplements. For Biotin, I wanted to go back to the brand Rexall, but lately I'm having a hard time finding it. So I picked up, Nature's Bounty Biotin - 5,000mcg instead. I also picked up a B-complex vitamin. I've never taken a B-complex supplement before, so I'll see if it makes a difference.

...And here's a close snapshot of how dry and damaged my hair looked this past Sunday before I started moisturizing again. I know, it looks pretty bad. It's going to take some time before this is corrected :(===========================>>>

Blue French Tips

Here are my nails for this week. I ordered some nail brushes. But they still have not arrived yet. So until they come, I'm stuck with just doing some simple french tips til' then. I did blue tips this time.

Here's what I used:
-Sally Hansen - Advanced Hard As Nails: Clear Base Coat
-Sally Hansen- Diamond Strenth: 05 Diamonds
-Petites- Sapphire (Blue)
-KISS Nail Accents Flexible Stickers

My New-Old Regimen

Well, like I said in my last post, I'm going back to my first regimen to get my hair back on track. Here's part of the old regimen I used to have. This will be my regimen for the remainder of the winter season.

-Scalp massaging- (I still get tremendous growth from this. This is a keeper.)

-Bunning- (I will continue to bun. I feel that's the only thing that's kept half the hair that's left on my head from falling or breaking off.)

-Pre-poo with heat w/ Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol- (Lately, I've been slacking on pre-pooing, period.)

-Wash and Co-wash 2x-3x a week
- (I had slacked and reduce it to once a week, unfortunately.)

-Deep condition with 2x-3x a week for more than an hour
- (I had slacked and barely did it.)

-Protein Treatment at the end of each month- (At first I never did it...then when I included it in my regimen, I did it 5x in one month. Keep in my mind that I barely deep conditioned to balance it out.)

- Continue to air dry hair

-Daily moisturizing- (It will include Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme and Carrot Creme, Elasta QP Mango Butter, Shea Butter and Lusters S-Curl.)

-Growth Aids- (Mainly MTG- I plan to used it routinely again.)

-Vitamins- (Why, Why, Why, did I change the brands I was using. For Biotin, I plan to go back to Rexall and use the 5,000 mcg again, For MSM, I planned to switch brands all together. If you ladies have any suggestions on any brands of MSM I should try, please let me know. For the multi-vitamin, I plan to go back to Centrum Chewables. I don't think the Flintstones vitamins are strong enough.

-Eliminated Products for now- (VO5 Conditioners, Shampoos, Rusk Conditioner and there's more...)

-Patience- (I have to admit that lately I have become very impatient with my hair. I need to relaxed and treat it better. Eventually, with a little TLC it will be where I want it to be.)

The Hair Blues :( Another Setback!

Well ladies, this blog was made to document the progress of my hair, and unfortunately, the setbacks as well. So far the second year of my hair journey is not going as well as I hoped it would. Well the only way I can think of fixing this downward spiral my hair is on, is by back tracking to where I starting noticing the problem.

Okay where do I start...here it goes....
I first noticed trouble right after I celebrated my one year hair anniversary. (Oh the irony!) This was back at the end of October to the beginning of November 2008. Now I don't want to start there. I think I should go back a few more months to when I changed my whole regimen completely. I changed it in July.

In July, I started to add a whole bunch of products that probably were not right for my hair. On the flip side I started to eliminated products that actually made my hair thrive. Why did I do this? I have no clue. I changed my flat irons (yes it makes a big difference) and I started using cheap conditioners that didn't penetrated the hair shaft. There's more, but to much to list right now.

Not only did I add and eliminate products. I also added and eliminated different techniques and care, too.

Look what 2 months of slacking, laziness, and no care can do to 12 months of progress. The first picture is from Nov-2008 and the second one was taken today Feb-1,2009. :(

The solution:

Now here's the tricky part. I plan to go back to the old regimen I had. Before all of this nonsense happened. The thing is, I can't remember everything I used to do. lol... My plan is to slowly build my regimen back to the way it used to be.

I plan to get back on track starting today!
