Nail Designs: French Tips & A Bit Of Glitter!

Hey ladies! Well I began the week out with Supergirl nails. So now I'm going to end this week out with some cute, simple french tips. I used white this time so it could look so fresh and so clean. I've decided to try and change my designs more frequently during the week, because I have so much polishes and I really want to use all of them as fast as possible. Gosh, so many color and so little time...lol!

Here's what I used:

Sinful Colors: "Snow" - White
KISS Nail Art: Silver Glitter
Sally Hansen Clear Top/Base Coat

Hair Update! Rollersetting Regimen

Ever since my trim last weekend, I have been babying my hair nonstop. During the week I realized that in order for me to really keep my ends extremely healthy I would have to start rollersetting after every wash. I mean, it makes sense right? I won't be using direct heat, like a flat iron, just to get my hair straight. Airdrying was okay...but it sometime left my hair a bit tangled and it definitely didn't dry straight. Plus rollersetting gives me a chance to detangle every inch of hair on my head. So that's a major plus.
So I've decided to put myself on a rollersetting challenge for a whole year. I believe that my hairs health will definitely improve. I think it will also aid in retaining all of my length this time and fewer trims would be needed.

I did a rollerset this weekend and it came out perfect. After I took out the rollers, I used a wide tooth comb to comb through curls. This gave it nice deep waves. So then I used control clips to clip up the front of my hair out of my face and I had an instant style. So here's the final result to your right.========>

Here's some tips from ehow.com to getting the perfect rollerset:

  • Keep each section soaking wet, especially the ends, they should "cling" to the rollers once your start applying them.
  • Use tension when rolling your hair. This is ensure that your hair will sit straight on the roller and get a better curl and silkier finish
  • Make sure the roller is clipped to the scalp. They should feel nice and tense, not wobbly.
  • Use different rollers to achieve your look you want. Use smaller rollers for a tighter curl; larger rollers for lose waves and curls.
  • Decide if you like foam or setting lotion. (I prefer just a leave in and water, the hair doesn't come out crispy and it has a light bounce to it.)
  • Give yourself enough time to roll hair and sit under the dryer. The whole process may take between 2-5 hours, so maybe think about roller setting on the weekends. (It took me 2-3 hours to get it done this weekend. I hope to get better as I do it more frequently.)
  • And remember, a good roller set takes lot's of practice! Don't be surprised at this.

Not A Top Model

Hey ladies! Well ANTM came to Dallas today and I definitely went. I'm not really for reality shows, because I feel they can have a negative impact on a serious actor's career. But I did decide to go because this may be the only time Tyra might accept petites. Well, I printed and filled out that very long application form. Then it took about 30-40 minutes to get there. They stamped my wrist so I can go in. And it literally took them 5 whole minutes to dismiss my group. lol...They probably would've chopped off my hair on the show anyways! I was sort of puzzled though. Besides myself, there were alot of model potential petites there that they said "no" to. Weird!?! They kept alot of the taller girls from my group. Maybe they don't really want petites. Oh well...There were also a bunch of jokers there. There was this one girl that I passed. When I was arriving, she was leaving because they dismissed her group. She wore this bright pink puffy 80's Madonna looking dress. But the funny part was when I was leaving, that same girl was coming right back. She basically changed her outfit, (another ugly outfit) and walked right back in to audition and get dismissed again. I must say that chick was determined!

Other than that, I must say I did walk in like a model from head to toe. I put my hair in a pony tail. I also wore a form fitting tank top, jeans and black high heel boots. For my nails, I tried to stay as natural as possible. I put on some Sally Hansen Diamond 05 polish. I also didn't wear any make up. I really didn't need it because my skin is already smooth and it has an even complexion. My plan is to just take a picture of this look today and send a couple of photos to the local modeling agencies in my area.

Here's a picture of my nails for the ANTM casting.

Hair Update! The Aftermath

Well, it's been 2 days since I trimmed back to APL and my ends are holding up well so far. Today I decided to wear a simple ponytail to work, since I've been bunning for a straight year. I must say that it felt weird, strange, and great all at the same time. I got alot of stares...lol. My co-workers were probably surprised that I was not wearing the usual bun. Oh well!

Right now I am doing everything in my power to make sure I achieve BSL this year. I might be adding some new vitamins to my regimen. Also I might start dusting more often. I'm also thinking about incorporating rollersets into my regimen now. I want my hair straight, but I don't want to put the flat iron in it everytime I want it straight.

So those are the few things I'm basically considering.

Hair Update! Intervention

Well, I tried, I tried, I tried...but the setback was just too much. Me and my hair have been in a vicious war since December 2008 and it wasn't showing any signs of getting better. Soooooooooo, I ended my 11 week stretch and got a touch up. Then, I finally decided to get a trim. I'm happy because it's now even, but I am feeling a bit sad about it. I was so close to making brastrap...but hey even if I did make it brastrap my hair would've looked so stringy, damaged, and uneven. So the trim was necessary and plus I feel like I have a fresh new start now!

Sorry ladies, I must mention that in one of the pics my mirror is a mess because I tried to wipe the steam off the mirror with a piece of tissue.

Chick Flix: The First Wives Club

Okay, Okay, Okay, I'm pretty sure everybody has seen this movie already. But that's the best thing about this great film. You can watch it over and over and again...and never get tired of it. This movie stars Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton. You'll also see the lovely Sarah Jessica Parker in a few funny scenes. Gosh, who can forget the very last part of the movie when the three aforementioned ladies perform the song, "You Don't Own Me." So if you don't have a thing to do and you want to watch a great chick classic WATCH THE FIRST WIVES CLUB!

Here's what was used:
-Sinful Colors: "Aqua" Teal
-Sinful Colors: "Satin" Beige/Tan

Hair Update!

Here's a quick little update on what's going on with my hair progress. I usually wait about 6-7 weeks before I get a touch up. But I decided to stretch it a little bit long this time. So far it's going well. I'm currently on 9 weeks going on to 10 weeks this weekend. I planned to get my next relaxer March 14. So that will make it an nice 11 week stretch. I actually would have gone longer, but I think I might try out for America's Next Top Model in two weeks. So I definitely need a fresh relaxer for that. Got to impress Tyra! lol...

My Dog's Birthday Update!
Oh...just in case anyone wants to know. My baby (puppy) had a great birthday this past Monday. He is 2 years old already. He's growing up right before my eyes. I did order the Diva Dog Bakery Treats for him. They arrived in really cute packaging. He loved the cupcakes and brownies the most. He kept pawing at the refrigerator begging for more!

Nail Design: Hart Foundation Vol. 1

Hey ladies here are the nails I'm rocking this week. I grew up watching and loving wrestling. So this is my first tribute to the best wrestling family: The Harts. I believe these nails represent them well, with the traditional pink and black.

I think it matches well...I plan to do something a little more next time. I might add some rhinestones and a cute heart in the design next time. So here is my Hart inspired manicure.

Here's what I used:
-Petites: "Night" -Black
-KISS Brush-On Nail Art Paint :(Pink and Silver Glitter) -This has a nice thin brush, which allows me to make really cute designs.
-Sally Hansen :Clear Top/Base Coat

...Oh yeah, it didn't take long to do at all. After I painted my nails with the black polish, I let it dry. Then I used the pink nail art polish, and made a few streaks from the corner of nail. Then I went over it with the silver...to make it sparkle!
